The Rhythm of Movement Special Event
November 30, 2025 | 4:00-6:00PM
Join us for an evening to celebrate the late Ernie Barnes as we enjoy a collection provided by Flyty Jacobs and artwork from his brother Ramon Jacobs. We will have live music, and wine provided by Wines with Brian.
Monique Stubbs is the proud Curator of Fine Art at The Gallery of Christian Jacobs in Gastonia, North Carolina, where she believes that through art, we can spark meaningful dialogue, strengthen community connections, and amplify creativity across the world. A native of Nassau, Bahamas, and a current resident of Charlotte, Monique grew up in a family whose love for community and the arts shaped her global perspective. From her youth, she explored museums, theatres, and live performances around the world—experiences that nurtured her passion for cultural storytelling.
Monique considers each exhibition she curates a living story—an invitation for reflection, conversation, and unity. She views her selection as curator as both an honor and a responsibility she does not take lightly, representing a fusion of Gastonia’s heritage and the visionary commitment of owners Derrick “Fly Ty” Jacobs and Jacinda Jacobs to inspire, educate, and enrich their community—values she deeply shares.
