Christian Jacobs Gallery presents

February - April, 2026

Curated by: Monique Stubbs

This exhibition is a love letter—written in color, texture, and form—to the legacies that made our presence possible. As we gather at the intersection of February, the month of love and Black History, and March, Women’s History Month, this collection honors our ancestors as trailblazers—men and women whose courage advanced African-American progress and expanded the possibilities for women in this country. Their lives were acts of love in motion, expressed through sacrifice, determination, and an unshakable belief that what they built would outlive them.

The works presented here hold space for remembrance and reverence. Each piece echoes the spirit of those who shaped progress not for applause, but for purpose—for the sake of their children, their communities, and the legacies they dared to imagine. This is art that remembers hands that labored, hearts that endured, and minds that envisioned a future they might never fully see. In honoring them, we honor love as an action, not merely a sentiment.

Meet The Curator:

Monique Stubbs

Monique Stubbs is the proud Curator of Fine Art at The Gallery of Christian Jacobs in Gastonia, North Carolina, where she believes that through art, we can spark meaningful dialogue, strengthen community connections, and amplify creativity across the world. A native of Nassau, Bahamas, and a current resident of Charlotte, Monique grew up in a family whose love for community and the arts shaped her global perspective. From her youth, she explored museums, theatres, and live performances around the world—experiences that nurtured her passion for cultural storytelling.

Monique considers each exhibition she curates a living story—an invitation for reflection, conversation, and unity. She views her selection as curator as both an honor and a responsibility she does not take lightly, representing a fusion of Gastonia’s heritage and the visionary commitment of owners Derrick “Fly Ty” Jacobs and Jacinda Jacobs to inspire, educate, and enrich their community—values she deeply shares.

Our Partners

Christian Jacobs Salon Suites is a testament to the power of vision, collaboration, and community. None of this would be possible without Preston and Somer Wilson, whose expertise as multi-time salon owners and innovative thinkers has been instrumental in bringing this unique dream to life.

Their dedication helps shape a space where legacies are honored, creativity thrives, and generations are empowered. Through this partnership, Christian Jacobs Salon Suites continues to share stories, celebrate artists, and cultivate a deeper appreciation for the arts within the community.

Be a Dream Maker

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Stolen Lunches Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in North Carolina. Their outreach initiative, Give Blessing Bags, is dedicated to feeding and resourcing our homeless brothers and sisters, empowering them to dream again.

As you experience the inspiration of our art exhibit, "The Rhythm of Movement," we invite you to join us in making a difference in our community. Your donation, in any amount, to Stolen Lunches Inc. will directly support Give Blessing Bags, ensuring that each month, the homeless are seen, loved, and uplifted with essential resources.
